As for the Kingfisher itself, there are about 90 species. They are very distrinct for their wide flat tails, short legs, pointed beak that is long and very sharp. They have a head large for there size. There feathers are bright in color with the male and female both being about the same. They mostly eat fix and like being in wooded areas.
